Puerto Vallarta is a warm beautiful place, hugged by the Sierra Madre mountains which spill into the emerald blue Pacific Ocean and located in one of the world's largest bays, Bahia de Banderas.
In Puerto Vallarta, the heart of an authentic Mexican town still beats with cobblestone streets and charming friendly people. An artistic town with galleries and public art in almost every little corner, energetic and romantic nightlife, many cafes, and delicious restaurants at every turn.
Stroll down the Malecon, Puerto Vallarta's half-mile promenade, that lines the city's historic center and waterfront. Spend the day at any of over a dozen beaches; stake out a favorite restaurant in the Zona Romantica; cross the swinging bridges to the Cuale Island to shop at at any of the dozens of market stalls that line the walkway; climb the Matamoros lighthouse for a spectacular view of the Bay.
You can explore the beautiful tropical canopy that covers the mountains and is home to hundreds of species of birds and orchids, as well as bountiful wildlife. Set sail on a day tour to observe the humpback whales as they leap into the air, watch the dolphins frolic close by, or go deep sea fishing.
Puerto Vallarta's location and geographical characteristics make it ideal due to its subtropical climate. The weather is comparable to Hawaii (which is located at the same latitude), and in January one can expect an average of 22-25 Celsius or 72-77 Fahrenheit. The climate is perfect, the city quiet and romantic, and the sky a perfect shade of blue.
